showing up

A friend sang a little diddy at church yesterday... it was great... but what hit me was his talk on God's people. How he was let down when he was a boy by God not showing up and having to suffer some things no child should suffer. How he now gets that it's really God's people who didn't show up to help... not God. My mind is full of ramblings, Bible verses, sermons, etc., but I feel right in saying this: We are going to show up as a representative of God for one little girl. She'll have a family, a sister, a brother, a mother, a father, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, blankets, a bed, a toothbrush, books, toys, hugs, kisses, medicine, food, treats, clothes, shoes, socks, a Christmas stocking, a pumpkin for collecting candy, an Easter basket... the list is endless. But at the top, above all else, she will know Christ. She will be taught about and raised in His love. We are all orphans in one way... collected up by God through his Grace. Lot's of people are in need - not just half way around the world. I wonder who you can show up for today on His behalf???

  1. Dawn, our adoption journey was miraculous! Each step was exciting. The elation we felt when Judge Bivens declared that our little girl was ours forever as if she had come from our DNA, my womb, she would have all rights as any of our natural-born children. The funny thing, that is very hard to explain is that even though each day I think of and thank God for her birth mom, sometimes I forget she didn't grow inside of me. It is amazing how God puts families together. I have people tell me all the time they cannot believe Ev is adopted.

You're right, as non-Jewish people, we all have been adopted, grafted into the God's family tree through his grace. We, too, have been declared like natural-born children of God through his Son!

    Best wishes and many prayers.
