this crazy inter-web thing

I am again amazed with the Internet.  I am making plans to meet a fellow adoptive mama this month for lunch.  She lives in my town.  She is also adopting from Ethiopia.  She is using my same adoption agency.  She just had a referral of a baby girl.  She was right in front of us on the referral list.  Her referral brought us to #1 on the wait list for a girl.  So thanks to this crazy inter-web thing, our on-line paths have crossed.  What does that really mean??  Our daughters know each other.  They are likely together right now.  And little kiddos make friends.  I know first hand.  I think of our dear friends whose daughter, Audrey, and George have been friends since birth.  I took George to the hospital when she was born.  He was 2 months old.  I don't know how old Esther is today.  But we all know babies make connections.  I know of other families who stay connected with the families who adopted children from the same orphanages and group homes.  These families may get together once a year or so for the kids to all see each other.  But we actually live in the same town!  How crazy is that!?  Well, not so much really.  God is crazy amazing.  So another kiddo who will have known my daughter before I even do will live here.  And I only know this thanks to social networking on the ol' inter-web.  So thank you Al Gore or Mark Zuckerberg.  And I have said it before and I will say it again:  The devil for sure doesn't own the Internet.
