I remember going through these same feelings when I was pregnant with Charlotte and then with George. It's Christmas. The child is on her or his way. Just not quite in my arms yet. Do I get a stocking or just wait til next year? what about an ornament? blanket? please can I just do something!? It's funny to see Charlotte and George doing it too... they've each got a Christmas gift for their new sister. Charlotte and Grandma already got her a Christmas ornament. They know she's real and on her way - just not in their arms yet. And I love how as we are working through the weeks of Advent: WAIT, HOPE, PREPARE, WELCOME, SHARE PEACE & JOY, SHINE! we are daily reminded of the path each family takes when ushering in a new member. Christ to Mary and Joseph, Charlotte and George to us, and now our new daughter to us. And I love the picture we can paint of God waiting for each of us... hoping for each of us, now preparing for us, someday welcoming us in eternity to share in His peace and joy and SHINE! I'm so thankful for the opportunities I have to learn along with my children. And forever humbled and grateful that my life is spared because "A child has been born to us... and He is named Wonderful Counselor. Mighty God. Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace!"
Merry Christmas!
