chocolate chip pie

Our shower faucet dripped.  We hate to spend money on things we know are simple to fix if you just knew how.  Andy Hudelson knew how and came over, stepped into our shower with a few tools and stopped the drip.  I brought over a chocolate chip pie of thanksgiving.  I'm pretty sure Amy ate it - all ;).

We had to rush to the hospital on a Sunday morning.  George was on his way... contractions had been coming all through the night.  I walked Charlotte to the front door of Amy and Andy Hudelson.  They would keep her, watch her and connect with Barry's mom later.

I'm joyfully exhausted from preparing for our first monster adoption yard sale.  I try to drag myself to the garage to begin the task of pulling out hundreds of donated items.  A 6:00 AM knock at the door to help by Amy Hudelson.  She's a yard sale professional.

I make the first trip to Ethiopia to meet our daughter and go to court.  I've always struggled with severe motion sickness and anxiety, but I packed medication and prayed constantly.  This trip is not about me.  I make it.  (insert crazy stories of clear attacks on me here - if you ever want to know the details let me know)  Barry tells me we need to consider him going the second trip with someone else.  I know it's true.  I can't be all the trouble I was when we'll have her in tow.  But who do you ask?  It should be a woman.  Who's husband to we know enough to ask such a thing of his wife?  Who knows they can make the trip?  Who won't be shocked by third world poverty?  Who's good with kids and willing to sacrifice the time?

She's traveled to Kenya - an even farther trip.  She's seen this kind of poverty.  We've known her for almost all of her adult life.  She's a mom.  She's a nurse.  Our families' long term friendship allows for trust.  She's passport and immunization ready.  She's willing and wants to go.

Amy Hudelson is traveling with Barry to bring Esther home.  I don't think there is enough chocolate chip pie of thanksgiving in the world for that kind of thing.
