good news... bad news

In the past week, we have been given some good news and some bad news. The good news? Our agency finally seems to be giving some referrals! 3 this week! I spoke with our social worker and it seems we may be CLOSE. We are #8 on the waiting list and at least 3 of the families ahead of us are waiting for sibling groups. This means we are more like #5. There are a group of children wrapping up paperwork right now and for the first time it seems possible Esther is in this group. But as we know, until we have that actual referral call, nothing is certain. And honestly, until we have her here, everything can change on a dime. But for now, there is a flutter of hope in the Blair household :).

The bad news? Paperwork. Dossier. I can hardly bring myself to type these words: We have to re-do our dossier. Ugh. Our dossier paperwork begins to expire in August and even if we were to get a referral tomorrow, we wouldn't be through the process by the time our documents expire. So we have to re-do medicals, employment letters, etc. and then go through all the notarizing, certifying, etc. and then pay for it all again (and again!). "Didn't you just do this in January? Didn't you just run this marathon getting into your new house and KY homestudy completed?" you ask. That was for our USCIS approval (American gov't). The dossier paperwork is for the Ethiopian gov't. Can we share? No. Insane? Yes. Does anybody care what we think? No. So you just have to do it all again? Yes.

Hope trumps frustration.

Good news trumps bad news.
